SUBJECT:
Approval of the purchase of commercial refuse containers for the Solid Waste
Division from Wastequip through the Houston Galveston Area Council (HGAC)
contract.
8ACKGROUND/RA TIONALE:
The Public Works Department has included funding for the replacement of aging commercial
refuse containers in their Solid Waste Fund budget for FY 2010-11. These containers will be
distributed by the Solid Waste Division to commercial customers to facilitate collection processes.
Staff anticipates purchasing approximately 170 containers ranging in size from 3 to 1 0 yards.
These are being purchased through a Houston Galveston Area Council (HGAC) contract with
Wastequip. The price for these 170 containers is $93,154.67.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The FY 2010-11 Adopted Budget for the Solid Waste Fund includes a budget allocation of
$130,000 for the purchase of commercial refuse containers. Therefore, sufficient funds are
available for this $93,155 purchase.
