3.0 COMMUNICATION IN ORGANIZATION<br />
3.1 DEFINING COMMUNICATION AS A CONCEPT<br />
Although the term communication has enjoyed a free and widespread usage by everyone in<br />
modern society, yet the term can hardly be precisely defined by many. In broad term,<br />
communication may be defined as the process of meaningful interaction among human beings.<br />
This definition includes all means by which meaning is conveyed from one person to another such<br />
as gestures, facial expressions, and postures of the body communicate meaning to others. Even<br />
sometimes silience can convey meaning and therefore must be considered as part of<br />
communication. Managers as involve in two kinds of communication; interpersonal and<br />
organizational.<br />
Interpersonal Communication: This is the process of exchanging information and transmitting<br />
meaning between two people or in a small group of people. Organizational Communication:<br />
This is the process by which mangers develop a system to give information and transmit meaning<br />
to large numbers people within the organization and to relevant individuals and institutions<br />
outside it. In brief, communication is defined as the transfer of information from the sender to the<br />
receiver, with the information being understood by the receiver. This definition then becomes the<br />
basis for the discussion of the communication process.<br />
3.2 COMMUNICATION PROCESS MODEL<br />
A Model of the communication process is the basis framework for understanding what steps are<br />
involved in communication. Communication begins when two conditions exist;<br />
