Floating Dock System<br />

A floating dock system that reduces the number <strong>of</strong> new<br />

piles needed while providing the break water necessary to<br />

support a marine environment within the Lens is planned to<br />

be implemented. Figure 3.47 illustrates one such structure,<br />

which will include strict wave attenuation and performance<br />

specifications for the new floating docks and floating<br />

breakwaters. The floating dock system being considered<br />

will surpass strict specifications, withstanding the forces <strong>of</strong><br />

a Category-3 hurricane (sustained winds at 110 mph) with<br />

associated storm surge, wind and waves while fully loaded, and<br />

surviving the forces <strong>of</strong> a Category-4 hurricane (sustained winds<br />

at 155 mph) while unoccupied. The system includes concrete<br />

modules connected with a simple flexible bolt/rubber block<br />

design.<br />
