Volume of extrabudgetary resources stabilized, with a higher ratio of unearmarked<br />

resources, through the enhancement and diversification of channels<br />

and methods for resource mobilisation, including public-private sector<br />

partnerships and innovative financing approaches<br />

Overall coordination, guidance and backstopping provided to the intersectoral<br />

platforms, including the lead for the intersectoral and interdisciplinary<br />

programme of action for a culture of peace and non-violence, the integrated<br />

comprehensive strategy on the category 2 institutes and centres, as well as other<br />

themes and policy issues of a strategic nature<br />

Foresight activities related to emerging trends and challenges at global and<br />

regional levels undertaken, integrated into programming of all Sectors and<br />

results widely disseminated<br />

<strong>UNESCO</strong>’s programmatic contribution in the context of the United Nations reform<br />

and United Nations inter-agency cooperation articulated and strengthened at<br />

the country, regional and global levels, including through the administration of<br />

dedicated programme resources and staff capacity-building programmes<br />

Staff capacities strengthened in RBM, SISTER, the mobilisation and management<br />

of extrabudgetary resources and UN reform/UNDAF approaches<br />

Chapter 4 – Organization-wide knowledge management<br />

Unit responsible: Office of the Chief Information Officer (ADM/CIO)<br />

09401 This will involve developing a Knowledge and Information Management Systems (KIMS) strategy in<br />

order to support knowledge creation, capture, retention and sharing throughout a widely distributed<br />

Organization. The Office of the Chief Information Officer will harness ICT technology to support<br />

effective and efficient decision making at all levels of the Organization and enhance organizational<br />

learning.<br />

09402 The Office serves as the principal advisory body to the Director-<strong>General</strong> and the Senior Management in<br />

the field of Knowledge and Information management, Information and Communication Technology<br />

and systems integration to lead innovation, increase business impact and optimize <strong>UNESCO</strong>’s<br />

investment in ICT and enhance coherence within the UN system.<br />

09403 Expected results at the end of the biennium:<br />

Strategic vision for knowledge and information management elaborated<br />

including requirements for knowledge dissemination<br />

Governance and decision-making process for investments in knowledge and<br />

information management defined and implemented across the Organization<br />
