▪ Provide training on financial management and budgetary issues, on regular and extrabudgetary<br />

sources, including risk management and internal control issues;<br />

▪ Participate in the United Nations system-wide reform process covering the financial and budgetary<br />

aspects as well as harmonisation of business practices; mainly by providing guidance to Field Offices<br />

to facilitate the implementation of common procedures and understandings at the UNCT level.<br />

12005 Expected results at the end of the biennium:<br />

Informed decision-making by the Director-<strong>General</strong> and Governing bodies<br />

facilitated by timely financial and budgetary monitoring and reporting on<br />

regular budget and extrabudgetary resources with particular emphasis on<br />

management of risks<br />

Risk-based budgetary and financial internal control systems strengthened<br />

across the Organization, concerned staff capacities built and programme<br />

implementation with key partners facilitated<br />

Transparent and high quality audited financial statements produced in<br />

accordance with IPSAS and presented to the Governing bodies with a clean audit<br />

opinion<br />

Financial resources of the Organization managed in an effective and efficient<br />

manner and in compliance with the Financial Regulations and Rules<br />

Operational deliverables and targets met due to consistent and appropriate<br />

application of the Financial Regulations, rules, policies and procedures<br />

Enhanced and integrated financial management and reporting systems put in<br />

place and properly used<br />

Effective operational reporting lines established from Administrative Officers to<br />

the CFO, with particular attention to the Field Office network<br />

Operational guidance and overall coordination provided to Field Offices on the<br />

implementation of measures agreed upon in the context of harmonized business<br />

practices in the UN system framework<br />
