(xiii) monitor gender balance in the Secretariat;<br />

(xiv) participate and provide input to, as <strong>UNESCO</strong>’s central focal point for gender equality,<br />

the United Nations inter-agency processes concerned with gender equality and the<br />

empowerment of women;<br />

monitor and contribute to the United Nations system-wide reform processes pertaining<br />

to the pursuit of gender equality at the global, regional and country levels, and formulate<br />

strategies for <strong>UNESCO</strong>’s involvement at different levels in matters related to gender<br />

equality;<br />

(xvi) forge a strong partnership with other UN agencies working in the area of gender equality<br />

and the empowerment of women, such as the UN Women, UNFPA and others;<br />

(xvii) promote cooperation and partnerships with Member states, as well as the private sector<br />

and mobilize multilateral and bilateral development assistance mechanisms;<br />

(b)<br />

to allocate for this purpose an amount of $664,000 for activity costs and $1,734,400 for staff<br />

costs;<br />

2. Requests the Director-<strong>General</strong> to report periodically to the governing bodies, in statutory reports, on<br />

the achievement of the following expected results:<br />

(1) Gender equality and women’s empowerment promoted in all <strong>UNESCO</strong> programmes at all<br />

stages of the programme design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation through gender<br />

mainstreaming and gender specific programming ensuring compliance with the strategic<br />

orientations and the programming frameworks and priorities set by the governing bodies,<br />

actions/results identified in GEAP as well as with the Director-<strong>General</strong>’s directives<br />

(2) Requisite staff and institutional capacities built for gender mainstreamed and gender-specific<br />

programming, advocacy and policy advice<br />

(3) <strong>UNESCO</strong>’s strategic contribution to the UN inter-agency cooperation in the area of gender<br />

equality and the empowerment of women articulated and integrated at the global, regional and<br />

country levels<br />

(4) Member States support and undertake initiatives in favor of gender equality and the<br />

empowerment of women<br />

(5) New partnerships with various stakeholders, including the private sector, to promote gender<br />

equality and the empowerment of women established and implemented<br />

3. Further requests the Director-<strong>General</strong> to report periodically in the same statutory reports on<br />

measures taken to optimize the use of resources in the implementation of programme activities,<br />

including administration, travel, contractual services and publications.<br />
