13106 Expected results at the end of the biennium:<br />

Outsourcing modalities for services implemented where relevant<br />

“Greening” <strong>UNESCO</strong> supported and carbon footprint reduced<br />

Chapter 2 – Procurement<br />

Unit responsible: Division of Procurement (ADM/PRO)<br />

13201 The Division is responsible for providing technical and administrative support and advice for the<br />

Organization’s procurement of goods, works and services, as well as for improving the capacity and<br />

competency for procurement implemented in a decentralized manner. It places particular focus on<br />

increased transparency and integrity in the utilization of <strong>UNESCO</strong> funds.<br />

13202 Furthermore, the Division is also responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of a central physical<br />

inventory register for Headquarters and for physical stocktaking as per the Organizations rules,<br />

regulations and procedures.<br />

13203 The Division will continue to focus principally on its core mandate and will envisage outsourcing<br />

modalities for services which are non-core to its main function and also those services which can be<br />

provided by an outside source more cost effectively and expeditiously.<br />

13204 The Division also ensures that environmental considerations, social responsibility and sustainable<br />

procurement criteria as developed by the United Nations are incorporated in the procurement process.<br />

13205 Expected results at the end of the biennium:<br />

Procurement processes simplified and Long Term Agreements (LTA’s) in place for<br />

most frequent and routine purchases at Headquarters<br />

Technical skills improved Organization-wide to ensure procurement planning,<br />

strict application of governing rules and regulations, as well as to reduce the<br />

waivers of competition in decentralized procurement activities<br />

Property management processes and procedures at Headquarters consistent<br />

with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS)<br />

“Greening” <strong>UNESCO</strong> supported and carbon footprint reduced<br />

Chapter 3 – Information systems and telecommunications<br />

Unit responsible: Division of Information Systems and Telecommunications (ADM/DIT)<br />

13301 The main responsibilities of the Division are to support programme delivery and facilitate development<br />

and sharing of knowledge throughout the Secretariat, at Headquarters and in the field through<br />

the provision of information and communication services and corresponding Information and<br />

Communication Technology tools.<br />
