with necessary information and materials with a view to helping in this effort. Communication tools<br />

and services such as the website, the database, other electronic tools as well as publications for National<br />

Commissions will be continuously improved and updated.<br />

B. Partnerships with Related Networks<br />

09521 In order to contribute to its strategic programme objectives and to the Millennium Development Goals,<br />

<strong>UNESCO</strong> will continue to involve its partners’ expertise fully in its action, to strengthen its partnership<br />

culture and, thus, to enhance its visibility.<br />

(a) Parliamentarians and parliamentary institutions<br />

09522 <strong>UNESCO</strong> will strive to extend its parliamentary network, to establish the world forum of<br />

parliamentarians for <strong>UNESCO</strong> and to strengthen its parliamentary fora for education in order to<br />

broaden the Organization’s support base in its Member States. The Organization will also continue<br />

to cooperate with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and regional and thematic parliamentary<br />

organizations.<br />

(b) Cities and local authorities<br />

09523 <strong>UNESCO</strong> will aim to strengthen its cooperation with municipal and local authorities and will<br />

collaborate with international and regional bodies representing cities and local governments such as<br />

“United Cities and Local Governments” (UCLG).<br />

(c)<br />

<strong>UNESCO</strong> Clubs Movement<br />

09524 <strong>UNESCO</strong> will build the operational capacities of <strong>UNESCO</strong> Clubs, Centres and Associations, and will<br />

support selected projects relating to its priorities.<br />

09525 Cooperation between <strong>UNESCO</strong> Clubs and National Commissions will constitute an important aspect<br />

in the promotion of the <strong>UNESCO</strong> Clubs Movement. To that end, a plan of action for the development of<br />

the <strong>UNESCO</strong> Clubs Movement will be established and implemented in consultation with the National<br />

Commissions.<br />

Effective contribution of National Commissions and related networks to the<br />

preparation, implementation and evaluation of <strong>UNESCO</strong>’s programmes secured<br />

Cooperation between National Commissions and <strong>UNESCO</strong> field networks<br />

Contribution of National Commissions to the mobilization of <strong>UNESCO</strong> partners<br />

and networks ensured<br />

Partnerships with Parliamentarians, <strong>UNESCO</strong> Clubs movement, cities and local<br />

Contribution of National Commissions and related network to the visibility of<br />

<strong>UNESCO</strong> enhanced at the country level<br />

Annual reporting by National Commissions on the impact of their activities,<br />
