Abstract:
The aim of the subject is to provide knowledge and skills for design, implementation and deployment of different
tools for formal and natural language processing, and automated programming.
Course content:
The formal grammars and languages theory is introduced. The compiler architecture is described. The techniques
for lexical, syntax, and semantics analysis, generation and optimisation of the code are presented. The
architecture of the general linguistic processor is discussed. The phases (lexical, morphological, syntax,
semantics, pragmatics analysis, and context shrink) of the natural language texts are presented. The Bulgarian
linguistic processor architecture is done. Some main principles of automated programming are introduced. An
architecture of tool for programme generation through natural language specification is described.
Teaching and assessment:
Students get acquainted with the lecture notes before the lecture. The lecture is a discussion between the
students and the lecturer. The students, grouped in teams and monitored by a supervisor perform the labs and
practice sessions. The final mark is calculated on the basis of the formula: Score = A х 6 + B х 5 + C х 7 where A
is the theoretical tests mark, B is the practical tests mark, C is the course work mark.
