The Department of Electronics was created in 1984 after<br />
introducing the Degree course of “Electronic Engineering<br />
and Microelectronics” at the Higher Technical School<br />
“Angel Kunchev”, Rousse, Bulgaria, within the Faculty of<br />
Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation. The<br />
first elected Head of the Department of Electronics was<br />
Associate Professor Vasil Philipov Petrov, MSc (Eng),<br />
PhD. There were 11 lecturers in this Department.<br />
Nowadays 11 lecturers, 7 PhD students and 2 technical<br />
assistants work in the Department of Electronics. The<br />
academic staff consists of 1 Professor and 7 Associate<br />
Professors holding PhD degrees. The majority of the<br />
lecturers consists of graduates from leading European<br />
Universities who continuously upgrade their qualification by<br />
participating in specialized workshops both in Bulgaria and<br />
abroad. Such opportunities have been provided to the best<br />
students from this Department since 1995, and supported<br />
by programmes such as SOCRATES / ERASMUS and<br />
others.<br />
The Degree course of Electronics has been accredited<br />
by the Bulgarian National Evaluation and Accreditation<br />
Agency. The curriculum, used in the study process, has<br />
been developed after reviewing the experience of different<br />
universities in Europe and the USA, with the participation of<br />
leading specialists from the Bulgarian Academy of<br />
Sciences and from similar departments in the country. The<br />
students can take two engineering degree courses –<br />
Bachelor of Electronics and Master of Electronics.<br />
