Abstract: The background of Data Acquisition Computer Systems (DAQS) base on PC and PLC is
considered in the course. The DAQS structure and basic industrial communications interfaces are
presented in details. Programming of DAQS with advanced software as DAQ Designer, LabVIEW, HiQ
and Signal Processing Suite is taken into consideration. The course is linked to Computer control systems
–1 and 2 and Computer Control Systems - Project.
Course content: Architecture of the Data Acquisition Computer Systems. Basic modules for data
acquisition. Industrial communication interfaces and protocols. Basic features of the software systems
DAQ Designer, LabVIEW, HiQ and Signal Processing Suite. Programming technology.
Teaching and assessment: The available technical teaching devices are used during the lectures.
Laboratory exercises are organized in cycles and are carried out in teaching laboratories. Students are
provided with user manuals for their preparation. Before classes, the students’ preparation is checked The
results of the experiments and software developments are recorded in a report. The final mark on the
subject is formed as a total mark from the exercises assessment and the mark from the written exam.
Abstract:
The course aims at giving the students working knowledge in modern computer vision systems, their basic
charachteristics as well as the main stages of digital image processing. The students study different
problems, related to acquisition and representation of images, image pre-processing, segmentation, image
description and image recognition.
Course content:
Computer vision structure. Acquisition and representation of images. Image geometry. Stereo vision.
Methods and algorithms for image processing and analyses. Colour and texture models. Image
recognition. Neural networks applications in computer vision.
Teaching and assessment:
The lectures present the main theoretical material and illustrate it with appropriate example problems. The
practice sessions are organized thematically. They are grouped in 3 basic subjects, which characterize
certain stages of image processing. During the practice sessions the students use specialized program
systems. The final mark is formed on the basis of the exam results and work done in the practice
sessions.
