The Department of Physics was<br />

created in 1946. It consists of 11<br />

academic and 3 support staff<br />

members and is one of the oldest<br />

departments at the University of<br />

Ruse.<br />

The Department is responsible for teaching General Physics to students who study engineering<br />

degrees. Apart from the course of General Physics, the department is responsible for the following<br />

specialized Physics courses: Optoelectronic and laser devices in industry; Optoelectronics and optical<br />

communications; Optoelectronics and optical devices; Air pollution; Forecasting of air pollution for<br />

master degrees; some subjects in Methodology of Physics education in schools and technical<br />

universities for bachelor and master students.<br />

The Department of Physics carries out research in the following fields:<br />

• Optoelectronics & application of optoelectronic devices<br />

• Investigation of the optical properties of thin solid films<br />

• Electro-physical and electro-chemical technologies<br />

• Physical grounds of the monitoring anthropogenic pollution and analysis of the environment<br />

• New technologies in Physics education in technical universities<br />

• Methodology of Physics education in schools and technical universities.<br />
