Abstract:
The course objective is the acquisition of knowledge about specialized elements from electrical equipment of
machines, aggregates and technological lines. The newly-acquired knowledge must enable the students to design
contemporary electrical equipment. Course prerequisite is the bachelor degree course. The Special Electrical
Power Equipment Course is linked to subjects such as Technical safety systems, Design and production of
electrical goods, Electronic transformers in the electrical power systems, and the Final Year project development.
Course content:
Electrical equipment dynamics. Special features in electrical equipment of cranes and electro-telphers, of
elevator’s electrical equipment and explosively dangerous zones. Transforming elements in electrical equipment.
Special electrical power equipment of metal cutting machines with numerical programming control. Application of
programmed controllers in electric equipment in technological processes.
Teaching and assessment:
Visual aids are used during the lectures. Lectures build up on students’ knowledge, which is analyzed and
contributes for gaining further knowledge.
The laboratory exercises are carried out in a cycle with the use of industrial models. Oral exams and short tests
(up to 5 minutes) in written form are administered during the classes. Nonstandard tasks in the area of electric
equipment are given to the students during the laboratory exercises. Report presentations are required for
acceptance of the laboratory exercises. The exam is written and the final mark is defined after an additional oral
exam.
The course considers: the management structure, normative regulations in structures management and the
conducting of energy audits in objects with a view to the realization of students as specialists in the powerengineering
sector and others. The output connections are related to the diploma project developing and the
further work of students in energy companies, laboratories and units on design, engineering and research.
Course content:
Power engineering management. Functions and organizational - management structures of institutions in the
sector. Normative regulations framework of the power engineering management. Management activities of energy
companies. Regulations, rules and guidelines for energy efficiency audits and making of energy-audit reports for
objects.
Teaching and assessment:
Lectures are held at pre-announced schedule by topics. The topics of the seminars are all related to the lectures.
With the aid of the supported technology of seminars conducting, the cycle of forming of management skills in the
