great fun or infamously horrible, depending on the<br />

skill <strong>of</strong> the writer. Sometimes spelled "cross-over"<br />

or abbreviated to "C/O" but not with <strong>com</strong>ic fandom.<br />

Refers to all stories which take place in an alternate<br />

timeline wherein Xena forgets/pretends/be<strong>com</strong>es/is Xena,<br />

a warlord and goes on to conquer kingdoms, etc. Hercules<br />

Not necessarily Xena The Conqueror, but similar.<br />

"Costume play." To go to a convention or a<br />

roleplaying event dressed up as a favorite<br />

character; more <strong>com</strong>mon in Japan and anime<br />

fandom, but you can probably spot 'em at any con.<br />

Cigarette-Smoking Man (aka Cancerman, the<br />

Smoking Man) -- Agent Mulder's archnemesis.<br />

Fanficcers <strong>who</strong> insist upon writing Iolaus as a<br />

whimpering, crying, helpless little man subservient<br />

to and dependant upon Hercules.<br />

"Curse? What curse?" or "Clause? What clause?" A<br />

reference to the "curse" that prevents Angel from<br />

achieving, er, happiness. CWC is how some ficcers<br />

ignore this major plotpoint to have him boink<br />

anyone he wants without reverting to his evil self<br />

In anime/manga a darkfic is especially a tale from a<br />
