STEERING SERVO REVERSE- Once you have selected a servo to control the steering, this option allows you to dictate whether or not to reverse the output of the steering servo. To make your selection, click the respective value box. Select either Yes or No from the pull-down menu. STIFFNESS- This option allows you to determine the ‘springiness’ of the gear. Higher values mean that the gear is relatively stiff. If your gear is ‘springy’, we suggest lowering the values. To adjust the stiffness of the gear, click the respective value. Next, enter the desired value either directly from the keyboard or via the mouse wheel. STRENGTH MULTIPLIER- This value indicates the strength or ability of the gear to resist damage. Increasing this value will increase the strength of the gear. To adjust the strength of the gear, click the existing value in the value box. Next, enter the desired value directly from the keyboard or via the mouse wheel. Higher values increase the strength of the gear, making them more resistant to damage. WEIGHT- This indicates the weight of the gear itself, not including the weight of the wheels or any child components. To adjust the weight of the landing gear, click the existing value in the value box. Next, enter the desired value either directly from the keyboard or via the mouse wheel. CURRENT MASS OF SELF (READ ONLY) – This indicates the mass of the individual landing gear. It is for one side only and does not include the wheel. It is not possible to manually adjust this value. Rather this value is controlled by the various modifications made to the gear. CURRENT MASS OF SELF (BOTH SIDES) (READ ONLY) – This indicates the mass of the gear for both sides, inclusive. It is not possible to manually adjust this value. Rather this value is controlled by the various modifications made to the gear. CURRENT MASS WITH CHILDREN (READ ONLY) – This indicates the mass of the item including any additional items (children) that are attached to the landing gear. CURRENT MASS WITH CHILDREN (BOTH SIDES) (READ ONLY) – This indicates the mass of the gear, both sides, including any additional items (children) that are attached. 142 • Chapter 7. The various modifications made to the gear control this value; you may not manually adjust it. Main Wheel- To add a smoke component, or to delete the main wheel, right click on the Main Wheel directory. Use either the Up/down arrow keys on the keyboard, or the mouse to select the desired option. If using the arrow keys, press Enter to finalize your selection. BRAKE SERVO- This dialog indicates which servo, if any, controls the brakes for the aircraft. To select the servo, click the value box. Use either the Up/down arrow keys on the keyboard, or the mouse to select the desired option. If using the arrow keys, press Enter to finalize your selection. BRAKE SERVO REVERSE- Once you have selected a servo to control the braking, this option allows you to dictate whether or not to reverse the output of the steering servo. To make your selection, click the respective value box. Select either Yes or No from the pull-down menu. BRAKE SERVO STRENGTH (%)- The value of this setting indicates the power and effectiveness of the brake servo. To adjust the strength of the brakes, click the existing value in the value box.
