WEIGHT-
This indicates the weight of the vertical fin.
To adjust the weight of the fin, click the existing value in the value box. Next, enter
the desired value either directly from the keyboard or via the mouse wheel.
WING LENGTH-
This value represents the length of the vertical fin itself. The length does not reflect
the dimensions of the Top.
To modify the length of the vertical fin, click the existing value in the value box.
Next, enter the desired value either directly from the keyboard or via the mouse
wheel.
CURRENT MASS OF SELF (READ ONLY) –
This value represents the mass of the vertical fin.
You may not manually adjust this value. The various modifications made to the
vertical fin control this value.
CURRENT MASS WITH CHILDREN –
This value represents the overall mass of the vertical fin, including any child
components.
You may not manually adjust this value. The various modifications made to the fin
determine this value.
TOP-
This component includes all the parameters for the top fin and the option to add or
remove fin specific components.
To add items to the top fin, or to eliminate it altogether, right click on the top fin
directory. Next, select the desired option from the pull-down menu that appears.
AIRFOIL AT TIP-
This setting determines which airfoil the vertical fin will utilize at the root. The root
of the tail is the section of the tail closest to the tail boom.
To select an airfoil, click the value for the existing airfoil. Next, click the more
options button (the gray folder with the ellipsis). This brings forth an alphabetically
organized list of airfoils for you to select.
Please note: if the airfoil at the tip is different from the airfoil at the root, the two
airfoils will blend along the length of the surface.
CHORD AT TIP-
This option adjusts the chord of the top fin at the tip. The tip of the fin is the section
furthest from the tail boom.
To adjust the chord, click the existing value in the value box. Next, enter the desired
value either directly from the keyboard or via the mouse wheel. Larger values will
increase the chord of the fin.
