15. Whilst stoning the Jamraĥ, if the stone bounced off someone’s<br />

head and then hit the Jamraĥ or it fell within the distance of at<br />

least 3 hands 1 from the Jamraĥ, it wo<strong>ul</strong>d be valid.<br />

16. If you threw a stone which fell onto someone who jerked his<br />

hand etc., causing it to reach the Jamraĥ, this stoning will not<br />

be valid. Throw another stone in place of it.<br />

17. Whilst stoning the Jamraĥ from the upper floor, if the stone<br />

fell within the boundary made around the Jamraĥ, the stoning<br />

wo<strong>ul</strong>d be valid as it will roll from the boundary and either hit<br />

the Jamraĥ or fall within the distance of three hands’ from the<br />

Jamraĥ.<br />

18. If you have any doubts on whether or not any stone has reached<br />

the Jamraĥ, throw another stone. (Baĥār-e-Sharī’at, vol. 1, pp. 1146, 1148)<br />

12 Makrūĥ acts in Ramī<br />

(The cases given in number 1 and 2 are Isā-at due to abandoning Sunnat-<strong>ul</strong>-<br />

Muakkadaĥ, whereas the remaining acts are Makrūĥ Tanzīĥī.)<br />

1. To perform Ramī of 10 th Ż<strong>ul</strong>-Ḥijjaĥ after sunset without a valid<br />

reason. (It is Isā-at as it is contrary to Sunnat-<strong>ul</strong>-Muakkadaĥ.)<br />

2. To stone the Jamarāt in wrong sequence<br />

3. To perform Ramī before the time of Ẓuĥr on 13 th Ż<strong>ul</strong>-Ḥijjaĥ.<br />

4. To throw large stones<br />

5. To make small stones by breaking a large one<br />

6. To use stones from a Masjid<br />

7. To use stones lying around the Jamraĥ. These are the unaccepted<br />

stones. The accepted ones are picked up and will be placed onto<br />
