Note: This glossary consists of only an introductory explanation to <strong><strong>Islami</strong>c</strong><br />

‘Arafaĥ ‏:[عَرَفَه]‏ 9 th day of Ż<strong>ul</strong>-Ḥijjaĥ (last <strong><strong>Islami</strong>c</strong> month)<br />

Du’ā [ َ ‏:[دُاع Supplication<br />

Farḍ ۡ ض]‏ ‏:[فَر It is an obligation without performing which one cannot be<br />

freed from duty and if some act is Farḍ in worship, the worship will not be<br />

accomplished without performing that act. Not performing a Farḍ<br />

deliberately is a grave sin.<br />

Ghusl ۡ ل]‏ ‏:[غُس Ritual bath<br />

Ḥājī [ ‏:[حَايجِ‏ One who has performed Hajj<br />

Ḥalāl َ ل]‏ ‏:[حَ‎ Lawf<strong>ul</strong> (by Sharī’aĥ)<br />

Ḥarām ‏:[حَرَام]‏ It is opposite of Farḍ; committing it deliberately even once<br />

is a grave sin.<br />

‏َّاج]‏ Ḥujjāj<br />

Plural of Ḥājī, i.e. pilgrims of Hajj ‏:[حُج<br />

Imām ‏:[اِمَام]‏ A Muslim who leads others in congregational Ṣalāĥ.<br />

‏َوَاب]‏ Īṣāl-e-Šawāb<br />

Īṣāl-e-Šawāb refers to the act of spiritually donating ‏:[اِي ۡ صَ‏ الِ‏ ث<br />

the reward of virtuous deeds to the Muslims. Īṣāl-e-Šawāb may be made to<br />

all deceased and living male and female Muslims including even Muslim<br />

jinns. See its detailed method in the booklet ‘Method of Fātiḥaĥ’ published<br />

by Maktaba-t<strong>ul</strong>-Madīnaĥ.<br />
