Question 10: If a Muḥrim wears f<strong>ul</strong>l dress unnecessarily, how many<br />

expiations will he have to pay<br />

Answer: If he wears his f<strong>ul</strong>l dress unnecessarily at the same time, it<br />

will be considered only one offence. If he wears one cloth necessarily<br />

and the other unnecessarily, there will be two offences in this case.<br />

Question 11: If a Muḥrim hides his face in his hands or someone<br />

places his hand onto the Muḥrim’s head, is there any harm in it<br />

Answer: To place one’s own hand or that of someone else onto the<br />

head or the nose in the state of Iḥrām is permissible. ‘Allāmaĥ ‘Alī Qārī<br />

has stated: To place one’s own hand or that of someone<br />

else onto the head or the nose in the state of Iḥrām is unanimously<br />

permissible as this is not referred to as covering or hiding the head<br />

or the nose. (Lubāb-<strong>ul</strong>-Manāsik wal-Maslak-<strong>ul</strong>-Mutaqassiṭ, pp. 123)<br />

Question 12: Can a Muḥrim stroke his face after he has made Du’ā<br />

Answer: He can do so because it is allowed to place the hand onto the<br />

face. The bearded <strong><strong>Islami</strong>c</strong> brother sho<strong>ul</strong>d take care not to remove any<br />

hair when stroking his face after Du’ā or Wuḍū.<br />

Question 13: If a Muḥrim puts stitched clothes onto his sho<strong>ul</strong>der, is<br />

there any expiation<br />

Answer: There is no expiation. Ṣadr-ush-Sharī’aĥ <br />

has<br />

stated: What is prohibited is to wear stitched clothes as they are<br />

usually worn. On the contrary, if a Muḥrim has used a shirt as<br />

Taĥband or has wrapped a pyjama around his waist without putting<br />

his feet into the parts of the pyjama, there is no harm in it. Similarly,<br />

if he has spread a robe over his sho<strong>ul</strong>ders without putting his hands<br />

into sleeves, no expiation is due but it is Makrūĥ to do so. If he
