r<strong>ul</strong>ing applies to pubic hair. Even if he has removed hair from both<br />

armpits, he is to pay only Dam. (Baĥār-e-Sharī’at, vol. 1, pp. 1170; Durr-e-<br />

Mukhtār, Rad-d<strong>ul</strong>-Muḥtār, vol. 3, pp. 659)<br />

Question 4: If a person gets shaved the hair of his head, beard and<br />

armpit etc. in one sitting, how many expiations will he have to pay<br />

Answer: Only one Dam will be Wājib even if all the hair of the whole<br />

body from head to toe is removed in one sitting. However, if the hair<br />

of different body-parts is removed in different sittings, Dam will be<br />

Wājib according to the number of sittings.<br />

Question 5: If hair falls during Wuḍū, is there any expiation for it<br />

Answer: Of course. If Muḥrim’s 2 or 3 strands of hairs fall during<br />

Wuḍū or due to scratching the body or combing hair, he is to donate<br />

a handf<strong>ul</strong> of grain or a piece of bread or a date as charity for each<br />

fallen hair. If more than three hairs fall, he will have to pay Ṣadaqaĥ.<br />

Question 6: If some of the hairs of a Muḥrim are burnt by the fire<br />

of the stove while cooking food, then<br />

Answer: He will have to pay Ṣadaqaĥ.<br />

Question 7: If a Muḥrim gets his moustache shaved, what is the<br />

expiation<br />

Answer: Whether he gets his whole moustache shaved or gets it<br />

trimmed, he will have to pay Ṣadaqaĥ.<br />
