Ruling for Nafl Ṭawāf performed by woman experiencing
menses
Question 7: If a woman has performed Nafl Ṭawāf when experiencing
menses, what is the ruling for her
Answer: She has become a sinner, and it is Wājib for her to pay a
Dam. ‘Allāmaĥ Shāmī
has stated: If a woman has performed
a Nafl Ṭawāf in the state of menses or uncleanness [when Ghusl is
Farḍ for her], she is required to pay a Dam. If she performed it without
Wuḍū, she is to pay a Ṣadaqaĥ. (Rad-dul-Muḥtār, vol. 3, pp. 661)
If a person who had performed the Ṭawāf in the state of uncleanness
or without Wuḍū repeats the Ṭawāf after he has attained cleanness
or made Wuḍū, expiation will become void. However, if someone
has deliberately done so, he will have to repent of it as it is a sin to
perform the Ṭawāf during menses or without Wuḍū.
Question 8: If someone started eighth round considering it the
seventh one but he recalled during the eighth round that it is
seventh, what should he do now
Answer: He should end his Ṭawāf during the same (eighth) round.
However, if someone started eighth round deliberately, it will amount
to the commencement of a new Ṭawāf and, therefore, all the seven
rounds of the new Ṭawāf will have to be completed.
Question 9: If one round of the Ṭawāf for ‘Umraĥ is missed, what
will be the expiation
Answer: Ṭawāf for ‘Umraĥ is Farḍ. If even one round of Ṭawāf for
‘Umraĥ is missed, Dam will be Wājib. If Ṭawāf is not performed at
all or most (i.e. four or more than four) rounds are missed, there
will be no expiation but it is mandatory to perform the Ṭawāf or the
remaining four rounds as the case may be.
