Question 6: If the husband and the wife when performing Ṭawāf or<br />

Sa’ī hand in hand with each other feel lust, what will be the r<strong>ul</strong>ing<br />

Answer: Dam will become Wājib for the one who feels lust. If both<br />

of them have felt lust, both will have to pay a Dam each. If men<br />

holding each others’ hands in the state of Iḥrām feel lust, there is<br />

the same r<strong>ul</strong>ing.<br />

Questions and answers about intercourse<br />

Question 1: Can Hajj become even invalid due to intercourse<br />

Answer: Yes. If a Muḥrim ind<strong>ul</strong>ges in intercourse prior to the ritual<br />

stay in ‘Arafāt, his Hajj will become invalid. He will have to pay<br />

Dam and perform Hajj again as Qaḍā the very next year besides<br />

performing the remaining rites of that invalid Hajj as usual.<br />

If the woman is also a Muḥrimaĥ, there is the same expiation for her.<br />

If there is a risk of ind<strong>ul</strong>ging in this act once again, it is advisable to<br />

stay away from each other avoiding even seeing each other from the<br />

commencement of the Iḥrām of Qaḍā to its end.<br />

Question 2: If a person who is unaware of r<strong>ul</strong>ings ind<strong>ul</strong>ges in<br />

intercourse in ignorance, then<br />

Answer: Whether someone ind<strong>ul</strong>ges in intercourse forgetf<strong>ul</strong>ly or<br />

intentionally, willingly or under coercion, Hajj will become invalid<br />

in all the cases and Dam will have to be paid. If he has intercourse<br />

again at another time, another Dam will be Wājib. However, Dam<br />

will not be Wājib if he abandons the intention of Hajj prior to his<br />

ind<strong>ul</strong>gence in intercourse.
