56 INTENTIONS
For Pilgrims of Hajj and ‘Umraĥ
(Including narrations, parables and Madanī pearls)
(Those going to perform Hajj and ‘Umraĥ should make only those intentions
which are practicable for them and which they really intend to act upon.)
1. I will perform Hajj solely for the attainment of the pleasure of
Allah .
(Sincerity is a condition for Hajj being accepted. In order to
attain sincerity, it is essential to avoid ostentation and fame.
The Holy Prophet ٖ
has stated, ‘An era will come
upon people when the rich people of my Ummaĥ will perform
Hajj for sightseeing, the middle-class for trading, Qurrā 1 for
show-off and for reciting (the Holy Quran) to others, and
beggars for begging’.) (Tārīkh Baghdad, vol. 10, pp. 295)
2. I will act upon this verse:

And fulfill Hajj and ‘Umraĥ for Allah (
).
