LATAKIA NOTES.
During the past two weeks there
has been much fear and unrest here.
The Moslems have been afraid of the
coming of the English war ships, and
the Christians have been afraid of
the Moslems. The fear has been so
strong that many from both sects left
the city. Some fled to Cyprus and
some to the Lebanons, but the greater
part to the mountain villages.
war on Turkey at present. He
also assured us that much of the
in each was about 50. Since then
there has been a goodly increase. The
outsiide teachers who help in the
boarding schools have not been
brought in. As is well known to the
Dr. Stewart expected to hold
Communion there in the summer as
usual but was unable to get away
from home.
