We trust that the Spirit may so filltheir hearts that they may stand by the decision they have made. IN MEMORIAM. Mr. James L. Crauford, a member of the Wilkinsburg congregation, died at his home in Wilkinsburg, Pa., Oct. 27, 1914. Five years ago a dread disease fastened its hold upon him, robbing him gradually of his physical powers until, during the last year, he lay helpless upon his bed. To the last his mind was clear and his faith in the sustaining power of divine grace never faltered. Though detained for 'many months from the meetings in the church his interest in the work was never lessened but rather quickened. Facing the end for flvelong years, suffering intensely at times, he was always cheerful, always grateful for the interest shown by friends. These closing years of his life revealed the reality of his faith in Christ. It was a severe test but faith triumphed. He waited patiently for the Lord —and the Lord came. He has entered in through the gates into the city. His memory and his influence will live long among those who were fortunate enough to know him., William C. Patterson died at his home in Staunton, 111., on Oct 14, 1914. He was a son ot Mrs. Jane L. Patterson, of Staunton, and a brother of the Misses Jessie, May and Helen Patterson, of St. Louis, and of Mrs. R. J. G. McKnight, of Wilkinsburg, Pa. His father was the late Hugh Patterson, who was for many years an Elder in the Staunton congregation, and was well known to all the ministers of the ehurch in 'his time. There are few of our ministers who have not at some time enjoyed the hosipitality ,'ol the .Patterson home. Their welcome there was genuine. Will Patterson was a quiet, unassuming gentleman. He did his part in the entertainment of guests silently, for the most part, but he always did it well. No night was ever considered too dark or too cold or too wet for him to make the trip to town to meet the coming guest. This was a service which he did countless times and always cheerfully. This however, was but a small part of his contribution to the work of keeping the Covenanter cause alive in Staunton. He was always present at the services on iSabbath and no minister could desire a more sympathetic or more intelligent listener. He gave liberally of his means to the maintainance of the work but more than that, he adorned the Christian faith by a life that exemplified most fully the principles of the Sermon on the Mount. He did not prate about religion. He lived a life that commended his faith to all who knew him. It is something to have lived a whole lifetime in one community and there to pass out with the loving esteem of every member of that community from the humblest to the highest. A FAMILY PAPEE.
