HIS offers a range of courses in healthcare management, epidemiology <strong>and</strong> medical methodology;<br />

with some aspects of courses <strong>and</strong> training relevant to <strong>Clinical</strong> <strong>Trials</strong> management<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>Clinical</strong> <strong>Trials</strong> operations.<br />

HIS provides courses to train students in the identification of information <strong>and</strong> data needed<br />

by doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, government planners <strong>and</strong> other health care<br />

professionals <strong>and</strong> how they are used in order to make effective health care decisions.<br />

Relevant undergraduate courses include:<br />

• Epidemiology<br />

• Medical methodology<br />

• Healthcare ethics <strong>and</strong> project management.<br />

Graduate studies<br />

HIS offers programs of study leading to the degree of MSc. The school also offers an oncampus<br />

special arrangements program of study leading to the degree of PhD in Health<br />

Information Science. The School has well established linkages to health care organizations<br />

within B.C. <strong>and</strong> Canada that allow faculty <strong>and</strong> student to conduct research in a variety of<br />

health related field settings.<br />
