Centre for Lung Health is focused on clinical care, education <strong>and</strong> research related to lung diseases. The Centre brings together researchers<br />

from the UBC campus <strong>and</strong> its affiliated academic teaching hospitals as well the BCCA <strong>and</strong> the B.C. Centre for Disease Control, UVic<br />

<strong>and</strong>SFU.<br />

CLH research to improve prevention, diagnosis, <strong>and</strong> treatment of respiratory <strong>and</strong> critical care illnesses including lung cancer, asthma,<br />

chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, sleep apnoea, <strong>and</strong> Tuberculosis. <strong>Clinical</strong> <strong>Trials</strong> at the Lung Centre are active in pulmonary research<br />

<strong>and</strong> on-going clinical drug trials.<br />

CLH Lung Centre specializes in the treatment of pulmonary conditions such as asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis,<br />

lung cancer, occupational <strong>and</strong> environmental lung diseases, sarcoidosis, pneumonia, tuberculosis, pulmonary hypertension <strong>and</strong> interstitial<br />

lung disease.<br />

PLHC is an academic clinical program dedicated to the care for patients with lung disease. The Pacific Lung Research Centre is part of<br />

the PLHC; it is currently conducting studies in various respiratory disease areas, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (bronchitis<br />

<strong>and</strong> emphysema), interstitial pulmonary fibrosis, chronic cough, cystic fibrosis, <strong>and</strong> asthma.<br />

Arthritis Research Centre of Canada (ARC) conducts consumer-driven clinical research <strong>and</strong> trials related to arthritis diagnosis, prognosis,<br />

prevention, care outcomes <strong>and</strong> quality of life issues.<br />

ARC is a patient-oriented research centre, with a wide range of disciplines including rheumatology, rehabilitation science, public health,<br />

epidemiology, biostatistics, health psychology, health economics <strong>and</strong> education.<br />

ARC work is supported through relationships <strong>and</strong> partnerships with universities, hospitals, funding agencies, arthritis treatment centres,<br />

<strong>and</strong> both the B.C. <strong>and</strong> Yukon Division <strong>and</strong> the National Office of The Arthritis Society.<br />

ARC scientists are committed to practical research for everyday living, to reduce the burden of arthritis, <strong>and</strong> giving people with arthritis<br />

better, more timely, <strong>and</strong> cost-effective solutions for living with their disease.
