Description
Vancouver-wide international cardiology research program.
Brings together people with spinal cord injury (SCI), researchers, and service providers
to accelerate improvements to the quality of life of people with SCI.
This MSFHR-funded technology/methodology platform complements existing B.C.
biobanks by improving access to human biospecimens for research and creating
a framework that promotes appropriate standards of quality, security, ethics and
privacy. By improving access to high quality, standardized biospecimens, it enables
research studies, and clinical trials, and increases capacity for translational research.
This MSFHR-funded technology/methodology platform assists B.C. clinicians and
clinical investigators to identify and exploit genetic factors involved in the development
of, protection against, and treatment of genetic diseases. Provides access to
state-of-the-art genomic technologies and services in project co-ordination, methodology,
study design, statistical analysis, consent, ethics, and data management.
Provides access to animal based research tools to investigate models of human disease
and to assess safe and effective treatment solutions designed to alter the course
of disease development and progression.
This MSFHR-funded technology/methodology platform connects B.C.’s proteomics
scientists and informatics experts; improves access to proteomics instruments/
technology; and promotes and provides training to increase the understanding and
use of proteomics by researchers.
Develops and fosters collaborative working relationships between hospitals, universities,
community service providers and groups representing elders who share an
interest and expertise in the health care needs of older adults in B.C. (see Appendix 9,
Section 11).
Consists of pharmacists in urban and rural communities throughout B.C. Enables
collection of patient-specific data under conditions of routine clinical care that can be
used in randomized clinical trials and prospective and longitudinal studies.
Research B.C. (www.nearbc.ca)
Population Data B.C. (www.popdata.
Women’s Health Research Network
(www.whrn.ca)
Increases capacity and funding in Aboriginal health research in B.C. by bringing
together multidisciplinary teams from across the Province. Partnership between UVic
and University of Northern B.C.
This MSFHR-funded technology/methodology platform holds and develops linkages
among population-wide individual-level data from the B.C. Ministry of Health,
WorkSafe B.C., and other data stewards in B.C.; supports research access to the data,
providing a hub for cross-sectoral, longitudinal, population-wide research; provides
training in data use.
Links innovative groupings of gender and women’s health researchers and research
collaborations drawn from academic, health service, policy and community settings.
Co-led by investigators at UVic, SFU, UBC.
