cell transplantation programs in Canada. Acts as an authoritative Canadian voice representing the interests of children<br />

<strong>and</strong> adolescents with cancer <strong>and</strong> blood disorders. CFRI’s Paul Rogers is one of the Council members <strong>and</strong> Co-Chair of the<br />

Cancer Care for Adolescents <strong>and</strong> Young Adults Committee.<br />

Canadian Blood & Marrow Transplant Group (www.cbmtg.org) National, voluntary, multi-disciplinary organization providing leadership <strong>and</strong> promoting excellence in patient care,<br />

research <strong>and</strong> education in the field of blood <strong>and</strong> marrow transplantation (BMT). CFRI’s Kirk Schultz is a prominent<br />

member.<br />

Canadian Urologic Oncology Group (CUOG) (www.cuog.org) Created, owned <strong>and</strong> operated by its members, CUOG is a clinical research investigator network. The Consortium is a national<br />

alliance of leading academic <strong>and</strong> community based urologists, medical oncologists, <strong>and</strong> radiation oncologists. It is<br />

headquartered in Vancouver. VGH’s Martin Gleave is past Chair of <strong>and</strong> a continuing member of the Executive Committee;<br />

review process. A number of B.C. investigators are on various NCIC CTG Executive Committees. BCCA’s Kim Chi is on the<br />

Genitourinary (GU) Disease Site Executive Committee; Chair of the sub-site Advanced Prostate group; <strong>and</strong> Executive<br />

Committee Member <strong>and</strong> Chair-elect of the Investigational New Drug Site; Stephen Chia is on the <strong>Clinical</strong> <strong>Trials</strong> Committee<br />

<strong>and</strong> Breast Site Executive Committee; Hagan Kennecke is on the GI Executive Committee; Christopher Lee is on the<br />

Lung Site Executive Committee; Martin Gleave is past Chair of <strong>and</strong> continues to be a member of the GU <strong>Clinical</strong> <strong>Trials</strong><br />

Group Executive Committee.<br />

International network of Australian <strong>and</strong> Canadians who can coordinate their skills <strong>and</strong> solve the complex problems facing<br />

prostate cancer. The Vancouver Prostate Centre is the Canadian Hub of this alliance <strong>and</strong> a founding member.<br />

The <strong>Clinical</strong> <strong>Trials</strong> Cooperative Group Program, sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), promotes <strong>and</strong> supports<br />

clinical trials of new cancer treatments, explores methods of cancer prevention <strong>and</strong> early detection, <strong>and</strong> studies qualityof-life<br />

issues <strong>and</strong> rehabilitation during <strong>and</strong> after treatment. Cooperative groups include researchers, cancer centres, <strong>and</strong><br />

community physicians throughout the U.S, Canada, <strong>and</strong> Europe. A number of B.C. investigators are on NCI Executive<br />

Committees. BCCA’s Kim Chi is on the Prostate Cancer Task Force Committee; Hagan Kennecke is on the Neuroendocrine<br />

Task Force Committee.<br />

CFRI’s Kirk Schultz is past Chair.. A voluntary group of clinicians <strong>and</strong> scientists that includes over 100 pediatric PBMTC<br />

centres in North America, Australia <strong>and</strong> New Zeal<strong>and</strong>. Purpose is to engage in scientific <strong>and</strong> educational activities<br />

related to the use of hematopoietic stem cells in the treatment of diseases of children <strong>and</strong> adolescents.
