Provides services for clinical trials, epidemiology, health economics, <strong>and</strong> health outcomes for various therapeutic areas at Providence<br />
Health Care (see Appendix 2 for more information). Expertise includes epidemiology <strong>and</strong> population health. Conducts pharmacoeconomic<br />
analyses. Evaluates, interprets <strong>and</strong> disseminates health outcome information.<br />
Provides clinical trials infrastructure for HIV <strong>and</strong> related conditions (see Appendix 1 for more information). Pharmacoeconomics is a key<br />
activity within the Network, with the Pharmacoeconomics Program Director (Aslam Anis) also holding the position of national co-director<br />
of the whole Network.<br />
A multidisciplinary group of researchers with expertise in clinical pharmacy, pharmacoepidemiology, health economics, health services<br />
research, program evaluation <strong>and</strong> health promotion research. Works in clinical <strong>and</strong> economic research, <strong>and</strong> pharmaceutical outcomes<br />
assessment.<br />
Established the Community Pharmacist Research Network (CPRN) to capitalize on the availability <strong>and</strong> accessibility of pharmacists in urban<br />
<strong>and</strong> rural communities throughout the province. In the past year, the number of research-oriented community pharmacies in the CPRN has<br />
exp<strong>and</strong>ed from 150 to 187. The CPRN enables the collection of real-time, patient-specific data under conditions of routine clinical care, <strong>and</strong><br />
can be utilized in settings of r<strong>and</strong>omized clinical trials as well as prospective <strong>and</strong> longitudinal studies. Post-marketing data on tolerability,<br />
adherence, <strong>and</strong> effectiveness of medications can be efficiently obtained <strong>and</strong> the field study data linked to medical office records <strong>and</strong> the<br />
B.C. Linked Health Databases.
