The DoD Model<br />

model. The network interface layer provides most of the capabilities provided for<br />

in the physical and data link layers of the OSI model. This layer defines specifications<br />

for the lower level networking technologies; that is, those at the physical<br />

layer (NIC, connectors, and cables) and at the data link layer (access methods).
