The Department of Business offers programs of study designed to<br />
prepare men and women for positions of leadership by imparting to them<br />
the ethical and philosophical principles upon which our society and our<br />
economy rest and by equipping them with the knowledge and skills<br />
needed to assume productive places in business, government, the teaching<br />
profession, and the community at large.<br />
The department offers majors in ACCOUNTING, BUSINESS<br />
(with emphases in Business Education and Office Management),<br />
BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, and COMPUTER INFORMATION<br />
SYSTEMS.<br />
Official Acceptance into Department<br />
Requirements for acceptance of a student to the Department of<br />
Business are the following:<br />
1. The completion of at least 58 semester hours of university work.<br />
2. The attainment of at least a 2.0 overall grade point average.<br />
3. The attainment of at least a 2.0 grade point average in courses<br />
taken in Business.<br />
4. Transfer students must earn at least 15 hours in required<br />
business courses in their major at <strong>Lee</strong> <strong>University</strong>. (Six hours<br />
must be taken at upper level in the respective major emphasis.)<br />
Business Education<br />
The Business Education program prepares graduates for initial<br />
employment as business teachers in secondary schools, careers in business,<br />
and for graduate school. Given the diverse and dynamic nature of<br />
today’s world, the program emphasizes decision making, problem-solving,<br />
technological skills, and pedagogical skills.<br />
Computer Information Systems<br />
The CIS curriculum is designed to prepare the student for either a<br />
career in computer technology in a business environment or for graduate<br />
studies in the computer field. The CIS graduate will have a broad understanding<br />
of business processes and how computer technology is used in<br />
these processes. The curriculum leads a student through a learning<br />
process that prepares the student for entry level positions in a variety of<br />
computer fields such as programming, networking, database design, help<br />
desk services, and system analysis.<br />
General Business<br />
The General Business program prepares students with basic business<br />
skills required for initial job placement in positions of management and<br />
leadership, in an increasingly diverse and international environment.<br />
Office Management<br />
The Office Management program prepares students for careers in<br />
business, such as office manager, administrative assistant, executive
