AP - Advanced Placement in Music Theory<br />

Students presenting a score of 4 or better on the 1996 version (or<br />

later) of the Advanced Placement Examination in Music Theory will be<br />

granted proficiency credit for Theory I (MUS 141, 3 credit hours) and<br />

Sight Singing/Ear Training I (MUS 142, 1 credit hour). Evidence of qualification<br />

for such placement must appear in the student’s advising folder<br />

and will take the place of a score on the Music Theory Placement<br />

Examination required by the School of Music.<br />

MUS 085. MUSIC RECITAL CLASS<br />

Zero hours credit<br />

A class designed to expose students to various types of music in the vocal, instrumental,<br />

and keyboard genres. This course is required of all music majors for seven semesters. Graded<br />

on a pass/fail basis.<br />

MUS 088. UPPER-DIVISION EXAMINATION<br />

Zero hours credit<br />

Successful completion of the Upper-Division Examination is required for admission into<br />

upper-level applied study. The Upper-Division Examination is to be performed before a committee<br />

of music faculty at the end of four semesters of applied study. The student is to perform,<br />

in the applied area, music of contrasting styles, totaling ten minutes of performance.<br />

For transfer students, the applied study may or may not have been done at <strong>Lee</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />
