MINORS<br />

The Department of English and Modern Foreign Languages offers<br />

courses for minors in English, French, Linguistics, Spanish, and<br />

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.<br />

English<br />

The student minoring in English must complete a minimum of<br />

eighteen hours in English courses, exclusive of the composition<br />

sequence, including nine hours of upper-division courses, plus three<br />

additional hours of studies in the English language.<br />

French<br />

The student minoring in French must complete a minimum of<br />

eighteen hours in French, exclusive of French 111-112.<br />

Linguistics<br />

The student minoring in Linguistics must complete a minimum of<br />

eighteen hours which include the following courses: LIN 360<br />

Introduction to Linguistics, LIN 361 Language Acquisition, LIN 460<br />

Linguistics for TESOL, LIN 481 History of the English Language, LIN 482<br />

Advanced English Grammar, and either ANT 310 Cultural<br />

Anthropology, or COM 354 Intercultural Communication.<br />

Spanish<br />

The student minoring in Spanish must complete a minimum of<br />

eighteen hours in Spanish, exclusive of Spanish 111-112.<br />

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages<br />

The student minoring in Teaching English to Speakers of Other<br />

Languages must complete a minimum of eighteen hours which include<br />

the following courses: ENG 120 Basic English Grammar or ENG 482<br />

Advanced English Grammar, ENG 360 Introduction to Linguistics, ENG<br />

361 Language Acquisition, ENG 460 Linguistics for TESOL, COM 354<br />

Intercultural Communication, and LIN 461 Methods of TESOL Pre K-12.
