ISP 354. THEOLOGY OF MISSIONS<br />
Three hours credit<br />
An introduction to the study of missions with a stress upon what the Bible teaches about<br />
the plan of God for the propagation of the Gospel from Genesis to Revelation. Prerequisites:<br />
ISP 250, ISP 262, and THE 230.<br />
ISP 360. AREA STUDIES<br />
Two -three hours credit<br />
Directed study of the culture and the secular and ecclesiastical history of a certain geopolitical<br />
area, with specific attention to the missions work of the Church of God.<br />
ISP 430. PEOPLES AND CULTURES OF SELECTED REGIONS Three hours credit<br />
A broad investigation of the cultural unity and diversity of a selected region, its peoples,<br />
culture areas, and traditions.<br />
ISP 451. PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES OF MISSIONS<br />
Three hours credit<br />
A practical study of missions work, including a detailed study of the Church of God’s<br />
missions policies.<br />
ISP 465. INTERCULTURAL STUDIES PRACTICUM<br />
Six hours credit<br />
A guided ten-week service experience in a culture other than the student’s own in the<br />
U.S.A. or abroad, planned and supervised by the faculty of the Intercultural Studies program<br />
in connection with one of the following church agencies: Church of God World Missions,<br />
Cross-Cultural Ministries, or International Department of Youth and Christian Education.<br />

Intercultural Studies is as interdisciplinary major which requires and recommends subjects<br />
in other academic areas. The following courses comprise part of the ISP offerings.<br />
Course descriptions are found in the appropriate academic sections of this catalog. These<br />
courses do not count toward the 18-hour religion requirement.<br />

Pastoral Studies<br />
PAS 101. FOUNDATIONS FOR MINISTRY<br />
One hour credit<br />
An exploration of the biblical foundation for ministry, the “call” to ministry and the<br />
basic rationale and approach to ministry preparation. Open to freshmen and current transfers.<br />
Required of all majors in the department. Other students may be allowed to take this course<br />
with the permission of the Department Chairperson, but this course does not count toward<br />
the 18–hour religion requirement. Offered Fall Semester.<br />
PAS 102. PASTORAL MINISTRY SEMINAR<br />
One hour credit<br />
An overview of the implications of divine “call” upon a human life and an introduction<br />
to the holistic model for a God–called person. The methodology will include an off–campus<br />
retreat. Required of all freshmen and new transfers majoring in Pastoral Ministry.<br />
Prerequisite: PAS 101.<br />
PAS 201. FOUNDATIONS FOR MINISTRY<br />
One hour credit<br />
A study of the biblical and classical Christian disciplines and their relationship to effective<br />
contemporary ministry. Open to sophomores and current transfers. Required of all<br />
majors in the department. Other students may be allowed to take this course with the permission<br />
of the Department Chairperson, but this course does not count toward the 18–hour<br />
religion requirement. Offered Fall Semester.
