EDU 343. MULTISENSORY EDUCATION<br />

Three hours credit<br />

A presentation, demonstration, and discussion of various types of audiovisual methods.<br />

Preparation, application, and evaluation of multisensory aids will be given. The use<br />

and care of equipment are also included. May be taken for Christian Education credit.<br />

Offered Spring Semester.<br />

EDU 350. CHRISTIAN DAY SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION<br />

Three hours credit<br />

A study of the principles of organization and administration of a Christian Day School.<br />

May be taken for Christian Education credit.<br />

EDU 365. SPECIAL PROBLEMS IN EDUCATION<br />

One-three hours credit<br />

Designed specifically for the upper-division student in the field of education; learning the<br />

techniques of problem solving; conducting research and study on an individual and/or group<br />

basis. Prerequisite: Permission from the Director of Teacher Education.<br />

EDU 402. SCHOOL LAW<br />

Three hours credit<br />

An introduction to the legal issues related to American education including cases dealing<br />

with church and state relations, employment and dismissal practices, and student and<br />

teacher rights.<br />

EDU 434. STUDENT TEACHING SEMINAR<br />

Two hours credit<br />

A seminar designed to be taken by all student teachers during their enhanced student<br />

teaching semester. The purpose is to help bridge the gap between coursework and enhanced<br />

student teaching. Discussion of a variety of topics related to instructional management and<br />

interaction is the focus of the seminar. Prerequisites: Admission to Teacher Education<br />

Program, admission to Student Teaching, and completion of all methods courses. Offered<br />

every semester.<br />

Elementary Education<br />

ELE 300. CHILDREN’S LITERATURE<br />

Two hours credit<br />

A survey of books and stories according to the educational development of children.<br />

Required in all elementary education programs. Offered every semester.<br />

ELE 310. CHILD PSYCHOLOGY<br />

Three hours credit<br />

A review of the principles of behavior in infancy and childhood; physical, intellectual,<br />

social, emotional, and language development in the normal child. Offered every semester.<br />

ELE 346. TEACHING PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN<br />

Two hours credit<br />

THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL<br />

A study of the elementary school physical education curriculum and methods and their<br />

place in the total school program. A part of the semester is devoted to practical experiences<br />

with public school elementary physical education classes. Prerequisite: Admission to<br />

Teacher Education Program.<br />

ELE 400. TEACHING THE CREATIVE ARTS<br />

Two hours credit<br />

Effective methods and materials for teaching art, music, movement, and drama in the<br />

elementary school. Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education Program.<br />

ELE 401. TEACHING - READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS<br />

Four hours credit<br />

Effective methods and materials for teaching reading, writing, listening, and speaking in<br />

the elementary school. An intensive practicum is an integral part of the methods block.<br />

Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education Program.<br />

ELE 402. TEACHING - SCIENCE, MATH & SOCIAL STUDIES Four hours credit<br />

Effective methods and materials for teaching science, math, and social studies in the elementary<br />

school. An intensive practicum is an integral part of the methods block.<br />

Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education Program.
