BUS 452. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT PROCEDURES<br />
Three hours credit<br />
A study of the proper role of the office employee in facilitating managerial operations<br />
including human relations, information retrieval systems, handling correspondence, arranging<br />
schedules and itineraries, using communication media effectively, and the simplification<br />
of office tasks. Offered Spring Semester.<br />
BUS 453. ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE MANAGEMENT<br />
Three hours credit<br />
Management of human resources and administrative services. Focuses on increased productivity<br />
by integration of office technologies. Prerequisite: BUS 305 or permission from<br />
instructor. Offered Fall Semester.<br />
BUS 460. HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT<br />
Three hours credit<br />
Theory and practices relative to the management of people. Major attention is devoted to<br />
the basic human resource management processes that are involved in the recruitment, training,<br />
and maintenance of human resources. Prerequisite: BUS 305.<br />
BUS 461. PRODUCTION & OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT Three hours credit<br />
Fundamental concepts, models, and techniques of operations in the business firm.<br />
Materials cover development and control of the system’s output (goods, services, and ideas),<br />
the transformation process (flows, facilities, and operating centers), and the system’s inputs<br />
(materials, time, and energies). Prerequisites: BUS 305 and BUS 341. Offered Spring Semester.<br />
BUS 462. BUSINESS RESEARCH METHODS<br />
Three hours credit<br />
A course to help students develop research skills and provide concepts and methods for<br />
developing effective reports through data collecting and analysis.<br />
BUS 470. INVESTMENTS<br />
Three hours credit<br />
An introduction to the basics of inventory, ranging from descriptive material on how<br />
securities are bought and sold to theoretical material on how securities are valued in an efficient<br />
financial market.<br />
BUS 480. PRINCIPLES OF INSURANCE<br />

AND RISK-MANAGEMENT<br />
A study of the principles of insurance and risk-management to identify risk exposures and<br />
the appropriate risk-management techniques.<br />
BUS 490. SENIOR RESEARCH SEMINAR<br />
One - three hours credit<br />
A seminar and course of directed studies dealing with specialized topics related to<br />
accounting, business, and economics selected on the basis of research value and the interests<br />
and needs of the student.<br />
BUS 492. INTERNSHIP IN BUSINESS<br />
Three hours credit<br />
A course designed to provide practical field experience for the business student who will<br />
explore the application of theory to practice. The course is designed for junior and senior<br />
departmental majors and minors.<br />
BUS 498. BUSINESS POLICY AND STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT Three hours credit<br />
A course designed to assist the student in the development of conceptural skills needed<br />
by mid- and upper-level managers and leaders. Emphasis is placed on the integration of ethics<br />
in the application of subject matter with accounting, finance, management, marketing, economics,<br />
and statistics. The primary tool will be the analysis of business case studies.<br />
Prerequisites: ACC 242, BUS 305, BUS 409, BUS 307, BUS 461, BUS 341, ECO 311-312.<br />
Computer Information Systems<br />
CIS 100. COMPUTER LITERACY AND APPLICATION<br />
Two hours credit<br />
A computer literacy course to introduce students to basic computer concepts, hardware,<br />
software, and computer applications and to provide essential hands-on computer experience.<br />
The course schedule is a one-hour lecture followed by a two-hour lab each week.
