ELE 405. METHODS OF TEACHING MUSIC IN<br />

Two hours credit<br />

THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL<br />

Fundamentals of music and the teaching of music from kindergarten through sixth grade.<br />

Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education Program.<br />

ELE 410. TEACHING IN THE KINDERGARTEN<br />

Two hours credit<br />

Emphasis on the methods, materials, and equipment for teaching in a kindergarten program.<br />

This course is required for licensure in kindergarten. A 40-clock-hour practicum is<br />

required. Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education Program.<br />

ELE 432. STUDENT TEACHING IN THE KINDERGARTEN<br />

Five hours credit<br />

Upon completion of all education courses, students will complete student teaching<br />

practicums for a total of 15 weeks in the public schools under the guidance of public school<br />

teachers and a university supervisor(s). The student will be assigned to at least two different<br />

classrooms, which may be at different schools. Students must enroll in two student teaching<br />

sessions and the appropriate seminar for a total of 12 hours. This will constitute the maximum<br />

load for the student teaching semester. No other classes may be taken during the student<br />

teaching semester. Prerequisites: Admission to Teacher Education Program, admission<br />

to Student Teaching, and completion of required methods courses. Offered every semester.<br />

ELE 433. STUDENT TEACHING IN THE EARLY GRADES (1-4) Five hours credit<br />

Upon completion of all education courses, students will complete student teaching<br />

SED 312. EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY<br />

Three hours credit<br />

A study of the psychological foundations for learning and the procedures by which learning<br />

is accomplished. Also covered is an evaluation of teaching methods and learning tools.<br />

Offered every semester.<br />

SED 411. THE TEACHING OF BUSINESS, GRADES 7-12<br />

One hour credit<br />

A course designed to help business teachers develop techniques and locate materials<br />

which will enable them to be more effective teachers of business subjects. Students will be<br />

helped individually to resolve particular problems through research, group discussions, and<br />

demonstrations. Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education Program.<br />

SED 412. THE TEACHING OF SOCIAL STUDIES, GRADES 7-12 One hour credit<br />

A survey of the principal methods, techniques, and problems of teaching the social studies<br />

on the secondary level. Students demonstrate various teaching methods and techniques,<br />

and a survey of available materials is made. Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education<br />

Program.
