DRA 331. SURVEY OF DRAMA LITERATURE<br />

AND THEATRE HISTORY I<br />

A survey of dramatic literature within its historical context. This course will emphasize<br />

the development of theatre practices that have had an impact upon the playwrights through<br />

analysis of selected plays from ancient Greek, Roman, Medieval, Renaissance, Restoration,<br />

and Classical Asian Theatre.<br />

DRA 332. SURVEY OF DRAMA LITERATURE<br />

Three hours credit<br />

AND THEATRE HISTORY II<br />

A survey of dramatic literature within its historical context. This course will emphasize<br />

the development of theatre practices that have had an impact upon the playwrights from the<br />

rise of realism to contemporary theatre, including non–western theatre and plays.<br />

DRA 352. ADVANCED ACTING<br />

Three hours credit<br />

A continuation of DRA 211 and DRA 311. The study of various acting styles and methods<br />

will be explored through the development of improvisational techniques. Contemporary<br />

means of developing character and intensity outside the realm of traditional acting will be<br />

presented. Prerequisites: DRA 211 or DRA 311.<br />

DRA 450. DIRECTING<br />

Three hours credit<br />

Introduction to the techniques of directing for the theater including blocking, character<br />

development and play production. Prerequisite: DRA 211 or permission of the instructor.<br />

DRA 451. ADVANCED DIRECTING<br />

Three hours credit<br />

Planning and preparing a full production utilizing lights, make–up, sound, budget and<br />

programs with skilled actors in a church or theatre setting. Prerequisite: DRA 450.<br />

DRA 490. CONTEMPORARY TOPICS IN DRAMA<br />

One-Three hours credit<br />

A course presenting various topics of contemporary interest. Topics will change each<br />

semester.<br />

DRA 499. SENIOR SEMINAR/PROJECT<br />

One-Three hours credit<br />

The student will engage in research or skill development appropriate to his/her career<br />

goals. A major project or performance is required. Prerequisite: DRA 352.<br />

HUM 201. FOUNDATIONS OF WESTERN CULTURE<br />

An integrative survey of the history, art, music, literature, and drama which form the foundation<br />

of western culture, reaching from approximately 4000 BC to the fall of Rome. Prerequisite:<br />

ENG110.<br />

HUM 202. THE RISE OF EUROPE<br />

Three hours credit<br />

An integrative survey of the historic foundations of Western culture and its artistic, dramatic,<br />

literary, and musical representations from the beginnings of Christianity through the end of the<br />

Middle Ages. Prerequisite: ENG110.<br />

HUM 301. FOUNDATIONS OF THE MODERN WORLD<br />

Three hours credit<br />

An integrative survey of the historic foundations of Western culture and its artistic, dramatic,<br />

literary, and musical representations from the Renaissance through the eighteenth century.<br />

Prerequisite: ENG110.<br />

HUM 302. MODERN WESTERN CULTURE<br />

Three hours credit<br />

An integrative survey of the historic foundations of Western culture and its artistic, dramatic,<br />

literary, and musical representations from the nineteenth century to the present. Prerequisite:<br />

ENG110.
