MISCELLANEOUS<br />

Music Resource Center<br />

The Music Resource Center (MRC) in the Curtsinger Music Building<br />

is a library designed to meet the music reference and research needs of the<br />

university and community. The collection consists of scores, technological<br />

resources and audio-visual materials including videos, CD’s, cassettes and<br />

LP’s. The audio-visual materials, technological resources and reference<br />

materials do not circulate outside the Music Resource Center to students<br />

but are checked out for two-hour in-house use. Circulating scores may be<br />

checked out for a 14-day loan period to undergraduate students and a 28-<br />

day loan period to graduate students. A valid library card is required.<br />

MRC Hours:<br />

Monday and Wednesday 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.<br />

Tuesday and Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.<br />

11:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.<br />

Friday 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.<br />

Saturday 12:00 noon - 5:00 p.m.<br />

Sunday 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.<br />

MRC hours are adjusted during convocations and school holidays.<br />

Performance Ensembles<br />

Students pursuing a B.A. in Music or Church Music emphasis with<br />

voice or keyboard as an applied medium are required to take six semesters<br />

of Chorale and four semesters of a secondary ensemble. Students<br />

pursuing a B.A. in Music or Church Music emphasis with a band/orchestral<br />

instrument as an applied medium are required to take six semesters<br />

of Wind Ensemble or Chamber Orchestra and four semesters of a secondary<br />

ensemble. Students pursuing a B.A. in Music or Church Music<br />

emphasis with keyboard as an applied medium are required to take six<br />

semesters of Chorale, Chamber Orchestra or Wind Ensemble and four<br />

semesters of a secondary ensemble. Students majoring in Music<br />

Education will not participate in a performance ensemble during their<br />

student teaching semester. They are required to take six semesters of<br />

Chorale, Chamber Orchestra or Wind Ensemble and four semesters of a<br />

secondary ensemble. For transfer students, the six/four semester<br />

requirement is determined on an individual basis by the Dean. If a student<br />

is not selected to participate in Chorale, the Choral Union may be<br />

substituted as a primary ensemble. If a student is not selected to participate<br />

in Wind Ensemble, the Symphonic Band may be substituted as a<br />

primary ensemble.<br />

Recital Requirements<br />

Every student majoring in music is required to enroll in and successfully<br />

complete Recital Class for seven (7) semesters. Graded on a pass/fail<br />

basis, this course receives 0 hours credit. A passing grade is based on the
