MINORS<br />

The Business Department offers a minor, which consists of 18 hours,<br />

in three disciplines: Accounting, Business, and Computer Information<br />

Systems.<br />

Accounting<br />

The requirements for a minor in Accounting are ACC 241, 242, 341,<br />

342, with the remainder of the 6 hours of electives to be chosen from any<br />

accounting course higher than Accounting 342.<br />

Business<br />

The requirements for a minor in Business are ACC 241, BUS 101,<br />

BUS 305, ECO 311, with the remainder of the 6 hours of electives in<br />

Business to be chosen from any business course except BUS 111 Beginning<br />

Keyboarding.<br />

Computer Information Systems<br />

The requirements for a minor in Computer Information Systems are<br />

CIS 101, 201, 230, 312, with the remainder of the 6 hours of electives in<br />

computers to be chosen from any CIS course above the 200 level.<br />

COURSE OFFERINGS<br />

Accounting<br />

ACC 241. PRINCIPLES OF ACCOUNTING I<br />

Three hours credit<br />

An introductory study of accounting principles and procedures with emphasis on financial<br />

accounting.<br />

ACC 242. PRINCIPLES OF ACCOUNTING II<br />

Three hours credit<br />

A continuation of Accounting 241 in which emphasis is placed on managerial accounting.<br />

Prerequisite: ACC 241.<br />

ACC 341. INTERMEDIATE ACCOUNTING I<br />

Three hours credit<br />

A detailed study of the theory and practice of financial accounting and reporting with<br />

emphasis on current assets, current liabilities, investments, plant and equipment, and their<br />

related revenues and expenses. Prerequisite: ACC 242 with a grade of C or better.<br />

ACC 342. INTERMEDIATE ACCOUNTING II<br />

Three hours credit<br />

A continuation of Accounting 341 with emphasis on long-term liabilities, stockholders’<br />

equity, and special problems and topics relating to accounting. Prerequisite: ACC 341 with a<br />

grade of C or better.<br />

ACC 343. COST ACCOUNTING<br />

Three hours credit<br />

A detailed study of accounting for management including cost-profit-volume relationships,<br />

inventory cost methods, budgeting, standard costing, direct costing, capital budgeting,<br />

and other contemporary cost problems. Prerequisite: ACC 242.<br />

ACC 344. FEDERAL INCOME TAX: INDIVIDUALS<br />

Three hours credit<br />

A study of the federal laws governing taxation of individuals with concentration in the<br />

preparation of tax forms.
