department. Other students may be allowed to take this course with the permission of the<br />

PAS 461. THE PASTORAL MINISTRY<br />
Three hours credit<br />
A study of pastoral ministry with emphasis on the shepherding model. It will also<br />
include the issues of credibility, leadership styles, mission, vision, compensation and housing<br />
as well as those related to the model.<br />
PAS 462. THE PASTORAL MINISTRY<br />
Three hours credit<br />
A study of pastoral ministry with emphasis on the enabling model. Particular attention<br />
will be given to areas of pressure and pitfall (problem people, temptations and burnout), budgeting<br />
and administration.<br />
PAS 464. PASTORAL COUNSELING<br />
Three hours credit<br />
The pastoral practice of counseling emphasizing context, attitudinal orientation, techniques,<br />
procedures, and essential information. Prerequisites: PSY 211 and PAS 461, 462.<br />
465. PRACTICUM Two hours credit<br />
A continuation of PAS 365. The experience is largely determined by the area of vocational<br />
choices. A total of 150 hours work in the local church is required. Prerequisites: Major in<br />
Pastoral Ministry or Bible and Theology, PAS 401, and senior classification.<br />

PHI 241. INTRODUCTION TO PHILOSOPHY<br />
Three hours credit<br />
A survey of the types of philosophy (the chief schools and movements) and the basic<br />
problems of philosophical thought. Emphasis is placed on modern philosophical trends and<br />
their treatment of the basic quests within mankind.<br />

THE 230. CHRISTIAN THOUGHT<br />
Three hours credit<br />
An introduction to the general field of Christian thought with emphasis on the biblical<br />
doctrines of the Triune God, of man, of salvation, of the Church and of the Scriptures. Prerequisites:<br />
BIB 101 and 102.<br />
THE 291-293. RELIGION COLLOQUY<br />
One-three hours credit<br />
A course or seminar which focuses on special topics or themes. The topics will vary<br />
from semester to semester. Variable credit is available and will be determined by the nature<br />
of the course or seminar.<br />
THE 300-301. RELIGION COLLOQUY<br />
One hour credit<br />
Weekly discussion of selected topics to be continued throughout the semester.<br />
THE 331. CHRISTIAN ETHICS<br />
Three hours credit<br />
A study of values and their influence on social and individual behavior. Special emphasis<br />
is placed on the development of Christian values, congruent with the teachings of Christ,<br />
and the application of these values to everyday living. Prerequisite: THE 230.<br />
THE 332. RELIGION AND CULTURE<br />
Three hours credit<br />
A historical study of the problematic relationship between the Christian religion and<br />
Western culture. The specific topics for the course vary, but the general intent is to clarify<br />
the Christian’s role and responsibility in living out his/her faith in the world. Various positions<br />
and practices are discussed which have been set forth in the Christian Church as a<br />
result of the Church’s double wrestle with its Lord and the cultural society in which it lives.<br />
THE 335. PERSON AND WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT<br />
Three hours credit<br />
A study of the doctrine of the Holy Spirit with emphasis upon the Spirit’s relationship to<br />
Christ. The work of the Holy Spirit in relation to other fundamental doctrines will also be
