This could be a niche of market, especially the highpotential for export, as well as the new <strong>de</strong>velopments of the consumer behaviour at the national level.The Important water resources for the analyzed region (Iskar rivers , Vit, Osama, the Danube River, artificialbarrages in the three districts) offers increased opportunities for rehabilitating and extension of the irrigation.In the sector of animal growth we mention in particular the growth of pigs and cattle. For example, in2008, in Pleven district, was produced a quantity of 2.126 tons of pork meat.Cattle are primarily reared for milk production, which is processed locally. In 2008 Pleven district produced11.5% of the total amount of milk in the North West region, 41% of the yogurt, and 6.6% of the cheese.In Montana, animal growth is the prerogative of the small-scale private farms. The most <strong>de</strong>veloped arethe bird growth and apiculture followed by the sheep, cattle and pigs growth.Since 2007 the district Vidin, Montana and Pleven benefit of the European financial support for the implementationof the National Rural Development Program 2007-2013 and the Operational Programme for fishing2007-2013 that contain measurements that are similar to those of the Romanian programs.The secondary sectorThe South-West Oltenia region is characterized mainly by the manufacturing industry and energy industry.They are consi<strong>de</strong>red the most dynamic sectors, which provi<strong>de</strong> the largest employment percentage of theworkforce in the region level.In 2009 worked in the secondary sector about 2076 economic units. For Dolj County, we i<strong>de</strong>ntify the economicunits operating in the chemical industry sectors (chemical fertilizers), automobile industry (representedby Ford Romania), and machine building industry (manufactures locomotives, heavy parts and equipment,agricultural machinery). For OLT, are representative the economic units from metallurgy industry (aluminumprocessing), engineering, textile industry, food industry.The function of car making industry is to supply all branches with equipment, <strong>de</strong>vices and equipment to meetthe needs of the population in various types of machines and domestic equipment. As a consumer of various types ofproducts the machine building industry stimulates the <strong>de</strong>velopment of several branches of the economy.In the county of Dolj, the most relevant unit for the sector since 2007 is Ford Romania SA, which tookover the majority stake of SC Automobile Craiova.
