It has specific responsibilities as headquartersof the Joint Technical Secretariat for Cross Bor<strong>de</strong>r Cooperation Programme Romania - Bulgaria 2007-2013.The objectives of Regional Office for Cross-bor<strong>de</strong>r Cooperation consi<strong>de</strong>r mainly:• promoting cooperation between regions, communities and authorities situated on both si<strong>de</strong>s of theRomania-Bulgaria bor<strong>de</strong>r in solving common problems by <strong>de</strong>signing and implementing cross bor<strong>de</strong>r strategiesand projects that contribute to the <strong>de</strong>velopment of these communities in terms of growth in livingstandards and economic <strong>de</strong>velopment..• stimulate interregional cooperation, national and international , cross-bor<strong>de</strong>r, including within Euroregions,cross bor<strong>de</strong>r regions and participation in European structures and organizations that promoteeconomic and social <strong>de</strong>velopment and institutional supporting the implementation of <strong>de</strong>centralization ofresponsibility, by promoting local initiatives, carried out un<strong>de</strong>r local strategies.• Promoting innovation, technology transfer and know-how by strengthening the link between businessand science/technology/research.Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bulgarian-RomanianThe Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bulgarian-Romanian 35 (CCIBR) is an association of cross bor<strong>de</strong>rbusinesses foun<strong>de</strong>d to support the work of business circles in Bulgaria and Romania, aiming at achieving commercialpartnerships, business contacts and exchange of information.The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bulgarian-Romanian are:◊ Support and <strong>de</strong>velop economic relations between Bulgaria and Romania;◊ Defend the economic interests of its members in the social and state institutions in Bulgaria and Romania,and from third countries;◊ To stimulate and support the cooperation possibilities and cross-bor<strong>de</strong>r collaboration in or<strong>de</strong>r to succefulyacce<strong>de</strong> of economic agents from both countries to the European market.The CCIBR members are both well-known companies in Bulgaria and Romania - in different sectors of theeconomy: industry, transport, tourism, tra<strong>de</strong> and services and some international companies and organizationswith interests in both countries.Note that among the activity directions of CCIBR creating can be found a register voluntary for companiesand organizations interested in <strong>de</strong>veloping business in Bulgaria and Romania, as well as maintaining a properinformation system with data about markets, companies, tra<strong>de</strong>, etc.BARDA - Bulgarian Association of Regional Development Agencies and BusinessCentresBARDA 36 represents an umbrella organization <strong>de</strong>centralized regional <strong>de</strong>velopment agencies and businesscenters in Bulgaria.Its main activities are concentrated on the <strong>de</strong>velopment of regional economies and small and mediumenterprises sector. It was created in 1997 with the seven members of regional <strong>de</strong>velopment agencies. Currentlyhas approx. 20 members - agencies located in all regions of the Bulgarian foreign donors, other organizationsand public and private institutions.BARDA cooperate with ministries, government agencies, foreign fun<strong>de</strong>rs in implementing regional <strong>de</strong>velopmentpolicies in support of SMEs and economic restructuring. Members of the association conduct theiractivities in line with the <strong>de</strong>velopment strategies of regions and participate in regional <strong>de</strong>velopment policy.Among the support structures for the business environment in Bulgaria are: technology transfer centers,innovation centers, incubators and business technology, technology centers and technology parks.
