220Sustainable Development strategy of business environment from Dolj, Olt, Pleven, Vidin and Montana regionBusiness environment analysis in Dolj - Olt - Pleven - Vidin– Montana regionForeign investment is the component that reflects the purpose of international flows of an entity(natural or legal) resi<strong>de</strong>nt in a country to obtain an interest (short or long term) in a company resi<strong>de</strong>nt inanother country.From this perspective we i<strong>de</strong>ntify:• Foreign Investment portfolio - characterized by a ten<strong>de</strong>ncy to move in some sectors of foreign countriesthat have an advantage over those domestic sectors. The vast majority of portfolio investment is ma<strong>de</strong>by individuals or institutions and not the corporate market through foreign capital (generally prece<strong>de</strong>foreign direct investment).• Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) lasting investment relationship between a resi<strong>de</strong>nt entity and a nonresi<strong>de</strong>ntentity; involves the exercise of the investor of significant management influence in the investeecompany. Foreign direct investment are consi<strong>de</strong>red: capital paid and the reserves assigned to a nonresi<strong>de</strong>ntinvestor owns at least 10% of the share capital of a resi<strong>de</strong>nt enterprise, the loans between theinvestor and the investee company and reinvested profit by it.• Foreign direct investor: legal entity, individual or group of persons acting in concert, who owns at least10% of subscribed capital (respectively the endowment capital of unincorporated entities) or at least 10%of votes in an enterprise located outsi<strong>de</strong> the country of resi<strong>de</strong>nce.• Direct investment enterprise: is an enterprise with or without legal personality, in which an investorowns at least 10% of share capital or voting power, or the endowment capital for unincorporated enterprises(branches). Possession of at least 10% of share capital or voting power, or of capital equipment, isessential in establishing direct investment relationship.• Reverse direct investment: the investment relationship opposite that foreign direct investment foreigndirect investment company with a resi<strong>de</strong>nt foreign direct investor, if the former holds a stake of less than10% of the share capital of the foreign direct investor.According to data recor<strong>de</strong>d by the National Tra<strong>de</strong> Register Office in 2009 were registered in the DoljCounty a total of 51,507 companies and 27,214 in Olt, representing about 4% of the total at national level registrations.Of these, approximately 22% (in Dolj) and 39% (in Olt) were individuals.
