Moreover, it remains to bedetermined whether Antalis inaequicostata isconspecific with the allied Atlantic Antalis novemcostata(Lamarck, 1818). Should this be the case,Lamarck’s junior synonym becomes an availablename for inaequicostata. Even if these <strong>species</strong> turnout to be distinct, the name inaequicostataDautzenberg can be preserved pursuant to ICZN(1999) article 23.9.1, which allows for homonymsthat have been widely used in the literature to bepreserved if the senior name has not been used since1899.
