Swiss Post will meet or even exceed
the Kyoto objectives
Swiss Post is committed to achieving
Switzerland’s objectives in accordance
with the Kyoto Protocol (reducing greenhouse
gases to 8 percent below the 1990
level by 2012) and the objectives of
Swiss Energy (lowering CO2 emissions to
10 percent below the 1990 level by 2010).
By setting these targets, we acknowledge
the need for action to combat global
warming and the greenhouse effect.

By systematically implementing our environmental
strategy, we have already
largely succeeded in achieving our energy
and climate-related objectives for 2010.
( 11) On balance we have reduced our
environmental impact by 8.6 percent
since 2000. Swiss Post will most likely
reach or even exceed its targets and obligations
under the Kyoto Protocol relating
to the reference year 1990. At the latest
by the time the CO2 tax is introduced, our
forward-looking strategy to improve energy
efficiency will become a competitive
cost advantage.
