Trussed-out and suspended scaffolds<br />

It is sometimes unsafe, uneconomical or simply not practical to construct a scaffold from<br />

the ground. In such situations trussed-out or suspended systems are used.<br />

Trussed-out scaffolding systems<br />

A trussed-out scaffold is one method of scaffolding the higher levels of a building without<br />

transferring the load to the ground (Figure 2.13 and Photograph 2.13). Another method<br />

of high-level scaffolding is to cantilever the loads out of the building using a secured beam<br />

(Figure 2.14 and Photograph 2.14). Truss and cantilever scaffolds are highly dependent
