Inspections and maintenance
Appropriate safety inspections must be carried out, similar to those outlined for scaffolding
systems. In situations where the works are prolonged, metal support systems are susceptible
to rusting and may lose their loadbearing properties.
Slight movement of the façade is to be expected; thus the retained façade must be monitored
for the duration of the works. If movement of the wall is detected and/or cracks
develop in the fabric, investigation should be carried out to ensure that the wall is still
