Choroid plexus of lateral ventricleComment: The circle of Willis is an anatomical interconnectionof nine arteries that structurally bring the anterior and posteriorcirculation together. The paired posterior communicating arteriesinterconnect the posterior cerebral and middle cerebral arteries.The anterior communicating artery interconnects the paired anteriorcerebral arteries. The size and patency of the communicatingarteries varies considerably. The free flow of blood through thecommunicating arteries is usually insufficient to perfuse the brainadequately in the face of an occlusion to a major cerebral artery. Fullpatency of blood flow between the anterior and posterior circulationsthrough the circle of Willis occurs only in approximately 20% of thepopulation.Overview of the Nervous System See book 7.5
